Meet the Founder

Hello, I’m Catalina Chew, an accountant, mentor and entrepreneur. I come to Accounting Brew with nearly two decades of business and accounting experience entailing: accounting, audit, compliance, tax and management experience. I began my accounting career working for a well-known Big 4 public accounting and audit firm as an auditor in the biomedical and retail industry. In the past 15 years, I moved on to focus in real estate and private equity; holding management roles with titles, Vice President of Financial Reporting, Controller and Assistant Controller. I have extensive experience working through complex accounting and tax issues, tax return preparation, audits, financial reporting, start-ups, equity and mortgage Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), cleaning-up books and working along-side external accounting, tax and legal consultants. I have used accounting and tax software of all sizes, such as Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, TurboTax, Ultimate Tax, Intuit Products, TaxAct, Peachtree, Xero Accounting, and Sage to name a few.

I attended Fisher College in Boston, MA and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Management with an accounting focus, graduating with honors. In 2012, I was invited to speak on a panel at Fisher College, as a Distinguished Alumni Panel Speaker, Life After (Fisher) College Series. I was recognized as Woman of the Year by The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) in 2012/2013.

I have dedicated my life to my career as an accountant, mentor and a business woman. I have always been a leader and have geniunely and passionately cared about my clients, investors and business partners. I have had great mentors along the way who have led me to be who I am today. Every decision that is made whether its ensuring an investor gets their financial statements timely or calling the accounts payable department ten times to move an employee expense report along, I make it my priority, there is never anything not too important. As I grow my business, I will ensure each one of my clients are treated as if they are my only client!
